Prof. Dr. Dobbelstein was appointed an honorary research professor by the Durban University of Technology. In Durban on the one hand his merits in the context of research are recognized, on the other hand, this represents an award for his many years of commitment in the development of the German-South African university cooperation. Since 2004 Dobbelstein has launched numerous university partnerships with South African universities for his home university, the Cooperative State University Ravensburg. He has initiated a lively exchange of professors and students.
